Denzil Quarrier

Have just finished Denzil Quarrier. A quick read, with fast-paced, untitled chapters. Typical Gissing plot twists, darkness and sardonic melancholy. Not sure why this novel is not more popular. Perhaps because the emancipated woman is presented there as morally monstrous; but then the male antagonist is amoral as well. Very modern, nihilistic concepts.

Next up: Born in Exile.
