The ERSATZ Device

The surest way to keep anything top secret is to publish it on the Web. No one can possibly read all the information! With that in mind, I announce that the ERSATZ Device (for Electronically Regulated Synchrony of Asynchronous Time Zones) is up and running. Professor Harkness and I have successfully integrated it with the Pandorabots chat software, and I am much indebted to him.

With this handy device, my time zone is automatically synchronized with that of my guests, so that they need not fear waking me in the middle of the night. I can keep to my 9 am-9 pm schedule, no matter where my guests are chatting from.

The physics of the thing's beyond me, but it springs from an idea of the Ancient Maya which Professor Harkness and my late father, A.S. Gray, were working on some decades past.
